Honda Prepares EV Variant of the Honda Fit

At Gustman Honda we're pretty big fans of the Honda Fit. It's a dynamic hatchback that's every bit efficient as it is stylish. The Fit has enjoyed a great deal of success in its time on the market, and as such, it only makes sense that Honda would choose to build their next EV model based on the successful platform of the Fit.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda showed off a new EV concept, and though they didn't openly admit that it was based on the Fit, we couldn't help but notice some striking similarities. Of course, if you're interested in getting behind the wheel of the current 2012 Honda Fit right now, you could always take it for a test drive here at 2400 W Spencer St. Appleton, WI 54914. Test drives can be easily arranged by contacting us online or by phone at (866) 578-9046.

The new Honda EV concept is powered by a a lithium-ion battery added to an electric motor. This results in the new EV concept from the Big H getting a 100-mile driving range and a top speed of 90 miles per hour on its charge. What's more impressive about the vehicle is its incredible twelve hour charging time on a 120-volt outlet, which is cut in half to six hours when using a 240-volt outlet.

The efficiency of the new EV concept is controlled by a three-mode driving system. The three dynamic choices for the driver to choose are Economy, Normal, and Sport. The names of each mode are fairly self-explanatory: While Sport offers better acceleration, Economy works to give better fuel economy, while Normal acts as a solid middle ground.

There's currently no word on when or if the new Honda EV concept will make it to production, though we're guessing it's really a matter of when, as demand for electric vehicles is quickly growing. However, in the meantime, you can check out the incredible lineup of new Honda models that we keep in stock by checking out our online inventory and showroom pages.

Once there, you'll be able to check out specific models in Honda lineup, such as the Honda Accord Crosstour, Honda Odyssey, and Honda Civic Hybrid; the easiest ways to either finance or lease them; and how you can ensure that they run and look like new for years down the road with the help of our dedicated Honda parts and service and repair departments.
